COTABATO CITY – A still unidentified gunman shot dead the municipal agriculturist of an upland town in North Cotabato, the police said Friday.
Chief Insp. Romy Castañares, President Roxas town police chief, identified the victim as Antonio Doton, 52, and a resident of Kidapawan City.
Castañares said Doton, who was driving a motorcycle, was heading back for work at 8 a.m. from Kidapawan City when a lone gunman on another motorbike shot him with a caliber .45 pistol along a dirt road in Barangay Libuo.
The victim was hit on the chest, he said.
Supt. Bernard Tayong, North Cotabato police spokesperson, told the Inquirer that investigators recovered two empty caliber .45 shells from the scene of the incident.
He said the motive of the attack remained uncertain as of yet. CDG
