Lhuillier dangles P300T for information, arrest of robbers

A PAWNSHOP company that was robbed in Lapu-Lapu City last week announced it was giving a P300,000 reward to anyone who can give authorities information that would lead to the arrest of its robbers.

M.Lhuillier announced in a Cebu Daily News ad that P300,000 will be given to the tipster who would lead police to the perpetrators who robbed P4-million worth of jewelry and other valuables last Oct. 5.

The company assured the public that the informant would be given absolute confidentiality for safety and protection.

Yesterday the two Davao-based managers of M. Lhuillier were unable to identify the robbers from a photo file of criminal suspects or rogue’s gallery that was shown to them.

Chief Insp. William Homoc said he invited Roberto Achura and John Arnel Desierto to his office and showed them pictures of robbery groups mostly based in Mindanao, but the managers could not point out anyone.

Achura said he was too frightened to look at the robbers when they were held at gunpoint. But both promised to cooperate with the investigation and submit an inventory of stolen items and their value./correspondent norman mendoza
