MANILA, Philippines — No disturbance is expected as far as the weather is concerned when the country hosts the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting next week.

According to the weather bureau, generally fair weather will continue to hold over Metro Manila when the leaders of 21 APEC member-states converge at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City from November 18 to 19.

In its weekly weather outlook, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecast generally fair weather with isolated light rains over Metro Manila from November 16 to 20.

FEATURED STORIES

It said no tropical cyclone is expected to affect the country next week.

The last and so far the strongest cyclone to hit the country this year was Typhoon Lando (international name Koppu), which pummeled northern and central Luzon from October 18 to 20.

It was only the 12th typhoon to affect the country this year when the country usually averages 18 to 20 typhoons a year.

Global weather agencies have warned that arguably the strongest El Niño episode on record is peaking this last quarter of 2015 and will last until mid-2016.

PAGASA has warned the country to brace for severe dry conditions while El Niño lasts.

The world is also experiencing record high temperatures, making this year the hottest on record.  SFM
