BEIJING — Officials and state media say a torrent of mud and rocks unleashed by heavy rains has buried nearly 20 homes at a village in eastern China, killing at least four people and leaving 33 others missing.
The city of Lishui in the eastern province of Zhejiang says on its official microblog that the landslide struck a village within the city’s jurisdiction late Friday night, burying nearly 20 homes.
The official Xinhua News Agency says that as of Saturday morning, rescuers found four bodies and brought one injured survivor to a hospital. The news agency says they were searching for 33 missing.
The Lishui area had heavy rains over the past two days.
