A FIRE that damaged five buildings of a carton packaging factory in Quezon City raged for more than 20 hours, leaving three people injured and raining ash on neighboring cities.
Fire marshal Supt. Jesus Fernandez said the blaze at the Boxboard Container factory on Obrero, Barangay Bagumbayan, started around 9 p.m. Thursday. It was declared under control 12:50 p.m. Friday but was not yet completely out at press time.
Fernandez said the fire may have been due to a machine that overheated at the section of the factory where glue was being made.
A fire volunteer identified as Jeffrey Reyes suffered first-degree burns on the lower lip, a 3-year-old child burned a thumb, while 56-year-old resident Rodora Apolinario fainted when she saw the fire, the official said.
The cost of the damage was placed at P7 million. Erika Sauler
