3 injured as fire hits informal settlers’ area in Iloilo City

ILOILO CITY — Three persons were injured while five houses were either destroyed or damaged by fire in Barangay  Rizal Pala-Pala Uno Wednesday night.

The injured were identified as  Antonio Pagunalim Dave,  25; Candelaria Cabayao; and a resident identified only as  Islago. All three were brought to the hospital and were in safe condition.

​Three houses were destroyed  and two were damaged in the fire that started past 7 p.m.

​FO2 Denmark Macoco, arson investigator  of the Iloilo City Fire Department, said that initial investigation showed that the fire started from the Toms and A Eatery owned by Ruben Puego but currently rented by Cezar Arcenas.

​Macoco said that they were still investigating the cause of fire. ​The barangay is a thickly populated area mostly inhabited by informal settlers.  SFM
