The Philippines attempted to set another world record, this time for the largest human ship wheel.
To celebrate unity and strength of the local maritime industry, a total of 2,276 seafarers and maritime students Wednesday formed a huge ship wheel image at the SM Mall of Asia open grounds in Pasay City.
The attempt was done as part of the 55th anniversary celebration of the Associated Marine Officer’s and Seamen’s Union of the Philippines (AMOSUP) which has over 100,000 members across the country. “We want to show the whole world that Filipino seamen are united.”
We want also to promote the welfare of our seafarers through this activity,” AMOSUP president Conrado Oca told the Inquirer.
The Guinness Book of World Records has yet to confirm the result of the record attempt as of press time.
