ACES shock Family Appliance
THE ATHLETES for Christ in Excellent Service (ACES) served notice that they are a team to be reckoned with in the Jr. Cebu Basketball Association (CBA) after they upset the league-leading Family Appliance, 68-67, yesterday at the Cebu Coliseum.
Bradley Bacaltos scored a difficult lay-up with 12 seconds left in the match that proved to be the game-winner which sent Family Appliance, the core of which belongs to the Cesafi juniors champions, Cebu Eastern College (CEC) Dragons, to their first defeat in five games. The Aces improved to 3-2 (win-loss).
Bacaltos, a former standout of the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles, scored 24 to lead the way for the Aces of head coach Al Solis.
Lyle Sumayang was his usual dominant self for the Dragons, with 24 markers.
Meanwhile, the first game saw an all-out melee break out which had 13 players ejected from the match. Eventually, cooler heads prevailed and the Ave Maria Sanctuary and Park routed the Herea Salon, 105-77.
