BELIEVING in the continuity of President Aquino’s “Daang Matuwid,” Batangas Governor Vilma Santos-Recto assured Liberal Part standard-bearer Mar Roxas and running mate Leni Robredo of her support in the 2016 elections.
The politician-actress, who was also among those considered for the LP’s vice presidential post, said she believes that the gains of President Aquino should be pursued by leaders of the next administration.
“Si PNoy ay may iniwang matibay na pundasyon under his administration and the most important thing in the national government, kapag may matibay na pundasyon, ang mahalaga ay magkaroon ng continuity,” Santos said in a speech.
Last Friday, LP members from three Batangas cities and 31 municipalities vowed support for Roxas and Robredo in an event called “Sa Daang Matuwid, Asensong Walang Patid” held at the Malarayat Golf and Country Club in Lipa City.
Santos’ husband Senator Ralph Recto is seeking reelection under LP. But Recto, an LP stalwart, also accepted the invitation of presidential aspirant Senator Grace Poe to be a guest candidate under the “Partido Galing at Puso” coalition.
But in spite of his alliance with Poe, Recto said, like Santos, he values continuity.
“Hindi ko na po uulitin yung sinabi ni V [Vilma] kanina, pero katulad po nung sinabi niya, mahalaga ang continuity.” Recto said.
The Rectos also gave emphasis on the importance of electing a set of leaders who will pursue the accomplishments of the Aquino administration.
Also present were Batangas Vice Gov. Mark Leviste, senatorial aspirant and former Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Chairman Joel Villanueva.
