Philpost issues Apec stamps
THE PHILIPPINE Postal Corp. (Philpost) will issue special stamps featuring this year’s Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) leaders meeting “to honor” what it called a “rare” opportunity to host the international convention.
“This is a Philpost initiative to highlight the Apec activity and it’s the country’s honor to issue these stamps,” Alvin Fidelson, Philpost communication division officer, told the Inquirer.
In an official statement, Philpost said it would print 101,000 stamps that would be available starting Tuesday. It would feature the 2015 Apec logo and the words “Apec Philippines 2015.”
The theme “Building Inclusive Economies, Building a Better World” is also inscribed on the first day cover envelope.
Fidelson said the stamps would be distributed nationwide and would be available in all post offices until November next year.
The country will host the Apec meet starting Nov. 18. Philpost said local and foreign collectors are expected to buy the rare stamps.
