ILOILO CITY—A 35-year-old uncle was killed in an apparent duel with his nephew in Zone 2, Barangay Ticud, La Paz District in Iloilo City past 10:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Reno Gumatas died of multiple stab wounds in his armpit, back, chest and head.
The suspect, Jestoni Gumatas, 25, sustained multiple stab wounds in his back and forehead and was in critical condition at West Visayas State University Hospital (WVMC).
Some witnesses said Reno stabbed his nephew at the back which prompted the latter to retaliate.
Insp. Nelson Arao, La Paz deputy station chief, said an old grudge could be the motive behind the crime since the two lived in the same house.
