Teen motocross racing champ killed in Negros Oriental road crash

DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental, Philippines — A tragic accident early Thursday, ended the life of a young champion motocross racer, who was the son of a provincial board member of Negros Oriental.

Enzo Nikolai Teves, 16, was driving his motorcycle at 3:58 a.m. when it rammed a four-wheel vehicle along the national highway in Barangay Boloc-boloc, Sibulan town.

Teves was brought to Silliman University Medical Center Foundation Inc. (SUMCFI) where he was declared dead on arrival.

The teenager was the son of Board Member Arnulfo Teves Jr.,  Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) federation president.

Initial police investigation showed that a Ford Ranger with plate No. FHU 267 was about to cross the highway going south to Dumaguete City.

When the pick-up reached the intersection, a customized 125cc motorcycle driven by Teves hit the left side of the Ford Ranger.

Aynie Mandajoyan Dizon was the registered owner of the Ford Ranger but it was driven by her husband, Alejo Dizon Jr., a resident of Villa Pastora Subdivision, Barangay Batinguel in Dumaguete City.

The motorcycle broke into two on impact. The teenager suffered severe injury in the body.

Witnesses said that minutes before the accident, a tricycle was traversing the highway from Dumaguete going south to Sibulan at a moderate speed ahead of Teves.

Teves overtook the tricycle but hit the pick-up instead.

Teves and brother Axl Teves were members of Team FD Dumaguete AM Racing who participated in the Yamaha GP One Make Race in Tagum City during the first leg last April.

Enzo Nikolai emerged Intermediate Expert champion while Axl placed 3rd in Expert at Open category.  SFM
