Low pressure area east of Mindanao seen to bring rains—Pagasa
MANILA, Philippines — An active low pressure area was seen east of Mindanao, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said on Monday.
As of 2 a.m., the ALPA was seen 680 kilometers east of Mindanao, embedded along the intertropical convergence zone affecting Luzon and Visayas, it said.
The whole country will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms becoming cloudy with widespread rains over Palawan which may trigger flashfloods and landslides, the state-run weather bureau said.
Moderate to strong winds blowing from the east will prevail over northern Luzon and its coastal waters will be moderate to rough, while light to moderate strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over the rest of Luzon and coming from the northeast to north over Visayas and Mindanao, Pagasa said.
The coastal waters along these areas will be slight to moderate, it added.
