A MAN was stabbed dead in Quezon City by a bank security guard in an attack believed to have stemmed from a love triangle, police said.
John Marvic Paolo Sta. Juana died from a stab wound in the chest after being chased by Rufino Ando on Anahaw Street in Barangay Veterans Village, Project 7, around 3:45 p.m. on Saturday.
According to Chief Insp. Rodelio Marcelo, head of the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, Sta. Juana and the suspect’s wife, Charito, were walking on Edsa near the corner Bansalangin Street when Ando suddenly appeared.
The suspect had Sta. Juana cornered and stabbed him with a knife, killing him instantly.
Ando was arrested hours later in a follow-up operation by the QCPD at a tricycle terminal near the corner of Commonwealth and Batasan Road. Marcelo said the 50-year-old suspect had yet to give a statement to the police in the absence of a defense counsel, but the official raised the possibility that Ando attacked the victim in a fit of jealousy.
The police said the victim was a stay-in caretaker employed by the Iglesia Ni Cristo central office on Central Avenue, Quezon City, while the suspect was a guard at a Philippine National Bank branch in Balanga, Bataan province. Jovic Yee
