Akyat Bahay suspect killed in Davao City

DAVAO CITY—Police authorities here killed a drug/Akyat Bahay suspect in what was described as an armed confrontation Saturday around 2:50 a.m.

Chief Insp. Milgrace Driz, spokesperson of the city police office, said the slain suspect had not been identified yet.

She said the suspect was earlier seen by village watchmen, led by Barangay (village) 9 chief Rodirico Tata, climbing on a fence in Marfori Subdivision.
Driz said Tata sought police assistance as the suspect was also armed with a handgun.

The responding police team—led by Chief Insp. Ronald Lao—waited for the suspect to emerge from the house he went in, possibly to rob, Driz said.

When he emerged, they accosted him but he drew his gun instead and fired towards the policemen, she added.

“The suspect pulled out a handgun and fired towards the lawmen thus, compelled the said police officers to fire their weapons resulting in the neutralization of the suspect,” Driz said.

The Scene of the Crime Operatives, who later arrived, found a .38 caliber revolver with spent and live cartridges and a packet of suspected shabu from the suspect’s pocket, she said.

“The cadaver of the suspect was brought to Angel Funeral Homes and we were waiting for somebody to claim and possibly identify it,” Driz added. RAM
