Future electrical engineers of Cebu Technological University (CTU) won the 25th quiz bowl show on Sept. 23 at the Cebu Institute of Technology-University gymnasium.

The activity was part of the three-day 7th Regional Student Congress by the Integrated Institute of Electrical Engineers- Council of Student Chapters (IIEE-CSC) with the theme “Economic Development through Clean and Affordable Electricity.”

The group bested the other teams from Negros Oriental State University (Norsu) in Dumaguete City, Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) in Leyte, University of Cebu – Lapu-Lapu-Mandaue (UCLM) and Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U).

“As expected, questions were really difficult, but I was ready to accept defeat,” he said.

Their coach, Engr. Joecyn Archival, expressed appreciation to Tan, saying “aside from consistency, he has also the accuracy and speed.”

The quiz bowl had three rounds easy, average and difficult. Each round had five questions that need to be answered in a few seconds.

The questions were related to subjects in electrical engineering and mathematics.

Leading in the first two rounds were CTU, CIT-U and UCLM with seven points each. For the last question of the difficult round, only CTU got the correct answer, which made them the champion.

UCLM and CIT-U had a tie score. After a tie-breaker question, CIT-U was proclaimed as the second place; UCLM, third place; Norsu, fourth and EVSU, fifth.
