Aurora province, which was recently battered by Typhoon ”Lando”, has received a donation of P1 million from the people of Leyte.
The Leytenos’ donation was coursed through their governor, Leopoldo Dominico Petilla, who personally went to Aurora to hand over the aid to Aurora Gov. Gerardo Noveras.
Gov. Petilla was accompanied by his brother, former energy secretary and Liberal Party senatorial candidate Carlos Jericho Petilla.
During the same occasion, the former energy chief also turned over his last salary to hundreds of Task Force Kapatid
volunteer linemen who were in Aurora to help restore electricity and repair damaged power lines.
Gov. Petilla said the donation was meant to repay his people’s debt of gratitude to the people of Aurora who came to their aid when super typhoon ”Yolanda” devastated Leyte in November 2013.
Facing the Pacific Ocean, Aurora was among the provinces severely battered by Lando.
Aurora Vice Gov. Rommel Angara also witnessed the turnover rite.
