Necesario bucks cramps to make boys 16-U finals

JOHN Michael Necesario survived seven matchpoints and a cramped calf to advance to the finals of the boys 16-under in the Baseline Junior Tennis Cup 2011 yesterday at the tennis courts of the Baseline Sports and Recreation Center.

Necesario went up against Mark Norman Enriquez in the semis and found himself  down 3-9 early.

But he clawed his way back. With the score at 9-5, Necesario’s right calf started to cramp up but he fought on to forge a tiebreak and eventually closed the game in his favor.

Necesario earned the right to face University of San Carlos’ Fritz Satera, who routed Dwyne Tarculas, 10-1, in the other semifinal match.

In the distaff side, the Dasian sisters bowed out of the tournament after failing to win their semifinals matches.

Elma Dasian was no match for Kizzia Jabines, 2-10, while the other Dasian, Elgy, succumbed to Kimberly Uytico, 10-6.

Jabines and Uytico will meet each other for the title.

The 14-under boys title will be contested between Joshua Kinaadman and Wismark Basanar.

Kinaadman dismissed Norman Joseph Enriquez while Basanar lorded it over Jermaine Laurel.

The girls finals, on the other hand, will pit Shyne Villareal and Sheena Camporedondo.

Villareal clinched her finals ticket by defeating Beverly Enriquez, 10-7, while Camporedondo annihilated Farrah Ardiente, 10-1.

The 12-under boys finalists are Jan Godfrey Seno and Zudie Karl Balundo.

Seno dismissed Clyde Dujali, 10-1, while Balundo outclassed Francis Gener Lambayan, 10-7.

The 10-under unisex title will be contested by Marc Suson and Coleen Maxilum.

Suson survived Jace Unto, 10-6, while Maxilum got the better of Don Vinz Lominoque, 10-7.

Matches in this tournament will resume this Saturday.  /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
