UFL game encounters problem

THE CEBU QUEEN City United (CQCU) was not able to make its debut in the United Football League (UFL) due to a miscommunication.

Heavy rains forced organizers to postpone the game to the University of Makati field, where CQCU was supposed to play against Pachanga FC yesterday at 1 p.m.

The team received a text message in the morning, informing them that the match has been postponed and the UFL committee was looking for another venue for the match.

Cebu Amateur Football Club  president Glenn Quisido said that when they received another message later, saying that the match will push through at a football field in Alabang at 3 p.m. The team proceeded there.

However, when they got there, Pachanga did not show up. Pachanga allegedly thought that the match was cancelled.

Quisido said they filed a protest at the UFL to render a forfeit decision against Pachanga, which would give the CQCU a 3-0 win because the message they received was a postponement and not cancellation.

The UFL committee had assured them they would hold a meeting regarding the matter. /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
