Senator Alan Peter Cayetano won’t accept Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte’s refusal to run for president just yet.

Cayetano on Wednesday said that he was clinging to the recent statements made by the mayor where Duterte said that he was leaving the decision to run for president to God.

“First, we are not losing hope. In a gathering last Sunday, Mayor Duterte said that only God knows if he will become the country’s next president, meaning, he is open and leaving it to the Lord. Number two, he said that he still has until December (to decide),” Cayetano said in a mix of English and Filipino at a media forum in Quezon City.

“Only Mayor Duterte can offer something different, something game-changing. When he looks at things, he is the only one who has a different perspective,” Cayetano said.
