Senator Alan Peter Cayetano will be tapping his “superhero” self should he succeed as the country’s next vice president.

During a media forum at a bakery in Quezon City on Wednesday, Cayetano said that he will not just be a spare tire waiting for the presidency.

“One of the reasons why I pushed for this campaign is to redefine the vice presidency. For so long, the vice president was seen as a spare tire. Now, you can be a drum-beater, a game-changer,”

“’Di na uso ang ‘Batman and Robin,’ ‘Batman and Superman’ na (The “Batman and Robin” kind of partnership is out of style already. It should be ‘Batman and Superman”),” he said.

Cayetano said that he intends to use the media to peddle his influence in providing solutions to perennial problems plaguing the country such as high income taxes, urban traffic, and peace and order.

During the forum, Cayetano pushed for the establishment of the Emergency and Response Department which will replace the current National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.

The vice presidential hopeful said that the ERD will be a permanent government agency running 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

He also reiterated that he will deliver true change in the country, hopefully with Davao City Rodrigo Duterte. The feisty mayor has repeatedly shunned offers to run for president. IDL
