Three towns in Pampanga were placed under state of calamity due to widespread flooding.
A report from the Office of Civil Defense in Central Luzon said that the towns of San Luis, Arayat and Candaba are under state of calamity.
Figures from the OCD said that about 25,000 persons were affected in several towns due to Lando.
The flooding was caused by the overflow of Pampanga River due to the rains dumped by Lando, which was downgraded into a tropical depression early Wednesday.
The declaration of state of calamity would allow local government units to use their calamity fund for recovery and relief programs.
Republic Act 10121 defines state of calamity as “a condition involving mass casualty and/or major damages to property, disruption of means of livelihoods, roads and normal way of life of people in the affected areas as a result of the occurrence of natural or human-induced hazard.” CDG
