Tropical storm “Lando” has further weakened as it continues to move away from the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), the weather bureau said Tuesday.
In its 5 p.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Lando was last spotted 90 kilometers west of Calayan, Cagayan.
Pagasa said the tropical storm had a maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph.
It is forecast to move northeast at 4 kph.
Public signal storm no. 2 remains hoisted over the provinces of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Apayao, Abra, Batanes, northern Cagayan including Calayan and Babuyan islands.
The provinces of La Union, Pangasinan, Kalinga, Mt. Province, Ifugao, Benguet, Nueva Vizcaya, Isabela, and the rest of Cagayan were under public storm signal no. 1.
The weather bureau said the tropical storm might become a low pressure area before it exits PAR.
