Man killed, wife wounded in Bacolod City holdup

BACOLOD City, Philippines—A 56-year-old man was killed while his wife was wounded by a lone armed robber as they were leaving a mall in Bacolod on Sunday night.

Napoleon Alvarado Perez Sr. of Moises Padilla town was stabbed in the chest and died at the hospital.

Madeline Perez, 53, sustained a stab wound on the left arm and was undergoing treatment at the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center.

The couple had gone grocery shopping at the Gaisano City Supermall in Bacolod about 6:45 p.m. on Sunday.

They were headed to their car in the south parking area of the mall when a lone robber stabbed them, the police report said.

The mall security guard chased the assailant, who was believed to have a companion who acted as a lookout. Both escaped, the report added.

The police did not say what valuables the robber took from the Perez couple.
