Public storm Signal No. 1 was raised in several provinces as “Lando” intensified into a typhoon on Friday.
Isabela, Cagayan, Kalinga, Mt. Province, Ifugao, Nueva Viscaya, Quirino, Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Quezon including Polillo Island, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur and Catanduanes were placed under Signal No. 1 by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) in its 5 a.m. weather bulletin
These areas will have light to moderate rains with occasional gusty winds
“It is now threatening Aurora-Isabela area,” Pagasa said.
The typhoon was tracked 670 kilometers east of Baler, Aurora and it moved westward at 15 kilometers per hour.
It typhoon packed maximum sustained winds of 120 kph and gusts of up to 150 kph.
Lando will bring heavy to intense rains within its 550-kilometer radius.
Fishermen were also warned not to venture out over the northern and western seaboards of Northern Luzon, western seaboard of Central Luzon and eastern seaboard of Visayas. RAM
