DAVAO CITY, Philippines – Former mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, the daughter of the controversial Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, shaved her hair as people await with anticipation if the elder Duterte would file his certificate of candidacy (COC) for the presidency in the coming days.

The filing of the COC ends on Friday, Oct. 16.

“Nagpaupaw nalang ko samtang naghulat (I decided to shave my hair while waiting),” daughter Sara wrote on Facebook as she posted a picture of her head being shaved, only days after the elder Duterte announced for the nth time he had decided not to run for president and that he was apologizing to all who have been prodding him to run.

“Bisan walay kwarta, bisan way makinarya, bisan mapildi (Even without money, even without machinery, even if we lose), the younger Duterte wrote, hash-tagging the “Duterte 2016” and “KalboparasaPagbabago.”

In a follow-up post of another picture showing the back of her shaven head, she wrote, “Sending good vibes to Digong,” using what the public fondly called her father.

It could still not be ascertained if her move was meant to support her father and not to spite.

The elder Duterte had repeatedly said his family, particularly his daughter Sara, had been against his running for president, the primary reason he cited why he was not running.

Duterte, the father, had been prodding his daughter to run for mayor, saying that if she refused, he would be forced to run for reelection, himself.

This prompted a Duterte fan to address Sara in a Facebook post, not to be “selfish” as to prevent her father from serving the country, when the people needed him. To which, Sara retorted back, “A wise man and a seasoned politician could not possibly make a decision on the basis of my opinion,” daring the Duterte fan to study her law, first. SFM
