Marcos, along with his wife Liza and mother Imelda, first went to San Agustin Church to obtain blessing.

He then proceeded to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) head office at the Palacio del Gobernador in Manila to file his CoC where he was mobbed by the media, employees of government offices and supporters.

In a short speech, Marcos thanked the people for taking interest in his bid for the second highest position in the land.

“Nagfa-file pa lang (ng CoC) nandito na kayo (Even in filing my CoC, you are already here. I hope this is a good sign,” he said.

“Sinabi sa akin sa loob pagkafile ko ng CoC na (I was told when I filed my CoC that) I am the seventh person to file. So nandiyan pa rin ‘yung lucky number 7 para sa aming mga Marcos (The “lucky 7” for us Marcoses is still here). I think it is a good omen,” Marcos added.

After his speech, he was whisked away from the press and did not grant an interview.

It was said that seven is the favorite number of his late father, former President Ferdinand Marcos. For instance, the date of Presidential Decree 1081 or the imposition of Martial Law was on Sept. 21, 1972—21 is divisible by seven. Aries Joseph Hegina/RAM
