A mandate from heaven.

That was how some of the presidential aspirants describe their bid for the highest position in the land on Tuesday during the second day of filing of certificates of candidacy (CoC) at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) head office in Manila.

The first person to file his CoC for president on Tuesday was 75-year-old Alfredo Tindugan. He was accompanied by his running mate, Angelito Baluga, a security guard.

The tandem vows to institute a “divine government” should they clinch the top two spots.

Expounding on their concept of “divine government,” Tindugan said that it is rooted on “righteous leadership.”

Another presidential aspirant, Romeo John Ygonia said that he was sent by God to run for the position.

Ygonia calls himself as “Archangel Lucifer.”

“This world will never be saved without God,” he said.

Meanwhile, the second woman presidential aspirant who has filed her CoC so far wants to establish an “absolute monarchy” in the country.

Marita Arilla said that if she becomes the country’s next chief executive, she will abolish legislation as the mandate to lead the country will come from God.

“It [mandate to serve] will be from Him to me and to you,” she said.

As of 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, a total of 27 persons filed their CoC for president, four for vice president and 20 for senator since Monday. Aries Joseph Hegina/RAM
