Romualdez files COC for senator; mum on presidential pick

Three-term Leyte first district representative Ferdinand Martin Romualdez has filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for senator.

Romualdez, who was the first senatorial aspirant who filed his COC on Tuesday, was accompanied by his aunt, Ilocos Norte representative Imelda Marcos.

After filing his COC and signing the “integrity pledge,” Romualdez gave a brief interview to the press outside the Palacio del Gobernador.

When asked whom he will support for president, Romualdez was evasive.

“We will wait for all candidates to file their CoCs and then we will make our decision,” he said.

He said that it is high time to bring his brand of service in Leyte to a national level.

“I am here today as part of my commitment to honor the Romualdez legacy of dedicated public service. Panahon na upang suklian ang malasakit na ibinabahagi ng ating mga kababayan ng mas ibayo pang pagmamahal (It’s time to return the compassion given by our fellow Filipinos with the love that is more extensive),” Romualdez said in a statement.

The lawmaker has filed various bills concerning persons with disabilities, youth and mitigating the effects of climate change and urban disaster. IDL
