ON OCT. 14, 1943, the Second Philippine Republic under Japanese support was inaugurated with President Jose P. Laurel taking his oath of office. The ceremonies were held in front of the Legislative Building in Manila with high-ranking Japanese civilian and military officials in attendance. Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
