President Benigno Aquino III has approved the resignation of Secretary Leila de Lima from the Department of Justice ahead of a senatorial run.
In a letter dated Oct. 12 and addressed to De Lima, Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa said the President has accepted the former’s resignation effective Monday, Oct. 12.
“We refer to your letter dated 06 October 2015 tendering your resignation as Secretary, Department of Justice. Please be informed that His Excellency, President Benigno S. Aquino III, has approved your resignation effective on 12 October 2015,” Ochoa said.
“We thank you for your valuable and dedicated service to the government,” he added.
After five years of service, De Lima bade goodbye to the DOJ during the agency’s 118th founding anniversary in September.
De Lima is one of the twelve senatorial aspirants of Liberal Party-led “Daang Matuwid” coalition.
