Vice President Jejomar Binay and Senator Gringo Honasan have made their tandem official as they were the first presidential and vice presidential tandem who filed their certificates of candidacy on Monday.
Binay and Honasan, who will run the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA), first attended Mass at the San Agustin Church before they filed their COCs.
The vice president was accompanied by his children: Senator Nancy Binay and suspended Makati mayor Jejomar Erwin “Junjun” Binay.
Also at the Comelec office were former Tarlac governor Tingting Conjuangco, an aunt of President Benigno Aquino III, and Zambales representative Mitos Magsaysay to support Binay.
After filing their COCs, Binay and Honasan did not give an interview to the media.
Meanwhile, former rehabilitation czar Panfilo Lacson was the first candidate to file his COC for senator. Another senatorial aspirant, Angel Redoble, also filed his COC.
On the other hand, other presidential aspirants who filed their COCs include: ultra-rightist Usaffe group leader Ely Pamatong and former Technical Education and Skills Development Authority chief August “Bobby” Syjuco. IDL
