Binay camp: Ombudsman rushed dismissal order, calls it ‘selective’

The camp of suspended Makati City Mayor Jejomar Erwin “Junjun” Binay slammed the Ombudsman for ordering the dismissal of Binay over the controversial Makati parking building.

In a statement issued on Friday, Joey Salgado, spokesman of Binay, said the Ombudsman rushed the dismissal order ahead of the start of the filing of candidacy on Monday, Oct. 12.

“Bistado na ang Ombudsman. Minadali nito ang order dahil sa Lunes ay magsisimula na ang filing ng CoCs (Certificate of Candidacy) para sa 2016 election,” Salgado said.

He said Mayor Binay has not received a copy of the dismissal order, adding that what the Ombudsman did was a “dismissal by press release.”

Binay’s camp hit the Ombudsman for being “biased and selective” against the Binay family.

Salgado cited that Budget Secretary Florencio “Butch” Abad was never suspended amid the preliminary investigation on the controversial
Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP).

He said the Ombudsman wanted to derail the re-election bid of Binay, but he said that the suspended mayor could run for re-election until no “final
judgment” from the court is issued.

“Haharapin ito ni Mayor Junjun at dudulog s’ya sa hukuman para matigil ang pang-aabuso at panggigipit ng administrasyon. Hindi mapipigilan ng order ng Ombudsman ang pagtakbo ni Mayor Junjun Binay sa 2016 at maglingkod muli sa mga taga-Makati,” Salgado said.

(Mayor Junjun will appeal this to the court to stop this abuse and harassment being committed by the administration. The Ombudsman’s order will not stop Mayor Junjun from running in the 2016 elections and serve the people of Makati.)
