It was too hot inside the Cebu Coliseum.

That was the reason why some members of the crowd left the venue while he was onstage delivering a speech, according to Vice President Jejomar Binay.

Talagang ang daming tao noong una, kaya lang ang init kaya ‘yong iba ay nag-alisan,” Binay told reporters after the event on Friday.

Part of the coliseum crowd was seen vacating their seats as soon as the Vice President began his 15-minute speech.

United Nationalist Alliance secretary general JV Bautista claimed that about 10,000 people were in attendance during the event.

Binay also dismissed reports that Visayas was the bailiwick of Liberal Party standard-bearer Manuel “Mar” Roxas II.

Basta ang sinasabi ko, punong-puno ’yong aming arena kanina at saka napakainit ng pagtanggap,” he said.

The Vice President said UNA would formally announce his running mate on Monday, the same day he would file his candidacy at the Commission on Elections.

On Friday, UNA went to Cebu for the Visayas launch of the party ahead of the official filing of the certificates of candidacy. The party was trying to court the vote-rich province, which had over two million voters. Nestor Corrales/RC
