At least 7 more cyclones until end of 2015–Pagasa
While the rainy season is officially over, there are still at least seven cyclones expected to enter the Philippines until the end of the year.
Shelly Ignacio of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said by phone on Friday that there were still 7 to 12 tropical cyclones that may affect the country.
Light rains may still prevail every now and then despite the termination of the southwest monsoon, she said.
On Thursday, Pagasa declared the end of the rainy season. The country is in transition period for the northeast monsoon or hanging amihan, which is associated with the Christmas season.
The last tropical cyclone to enter the Philippine area of responsibility was “Kabayan” (Mujigae).
The next 12 cyclones will be locally named: Lando, Marilyn, Nonoy, Onyok, Perla, Quiel, Ramon, Sarah, Tisoy, Ursula, Viring, and Weng. Frances Mangosing/RC
