The Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Friday arrested a Chinese fugitive wanted in his country for economic crimes.

Zhang Dongman was arrested at a domestic airport in Pasay City at around 10:30 a.m. following a month-long surveillance and intelligence work.

Immigration records showed that Zhang had been living in the Philippines since 2011. His passport was cancelled in July this year.

On July 30, 2015, the BI’s Board of Commissioners issued a Summary Deportation Order against Zhang for undesirability.

“As in all cases involving fugitives, we will ensure that Zhang is deported at the soonest possible time,” said Elaine Tan, BI spokesperson.
