His running mate, Sen. Gregorio “Gringo” Honasan, was not around.
Three of UNA’s senatorial candidates—Sulu’s princess Jacel Kiram, former actress Alma Moreno and University of the Philippines professor and lawyer Harry Roque—were at the Visayas launching of the opposition party.
Also in attendance were the Vice President’s daughter, Sen. Nancy Binay, UNA treasurer Gary Teves and party Secretary General JV Bautista.
Erwin Maceda hosted the said event.
Roads surrounding Cebu Coliseum were closed as early as 6 a.m. to allow entry of supporters who were brought in using Cebu City hall buses and other vehicles.
Tarps that read “Welcome to CEBU! Binay country” are displayed in every corner of the Cebu Coliseum to show UNA’s presence in Cebu which has a voting population of at least two million.
UNA T-shirts, fans and paper hats were given out to the coliseum crowd. Attendance sheets, UNA membership forms and identification cards were also given out to the participants. Doris C. Bongcac/RAM
