No ‘sexy’ performances at oath-taking of NP, LP alliance

STA. ROSA, LAGUNA –This time, no sexy dancers spiced up the mass oath-taking of new members of a party which formed alliance with the Liberal Party (LP) on Thursday in Calamba, Laguna province.

The lineup of performers gave a wholesome show during the oath-taking of new Nacionalista Party (NP) members attended by LP standard-bearer Mar Roxas at Calamba town plaza.

It was as if the officials took as a lesson the controversial show of “The Playgirls” after a similar event of LP members in Sta. Cruz town, also in Laguna province.

Instead of dancers wearing skimpy outfits, a group of young performers danced to a hip hop song to entertain the supporters of Laguna governor Ramil Hernandez and Roxas.

The incident that made Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chairman Francis Tolentino step down from his post happened exactly a week ago during the birthday of Laguna district representative Benjie Agarao, an LP member. Tolentino allegedly sent the girls to the post-LP event.

But Hernandez said there was no conscious effort from the NP and LP officials to ensure that no “lewd” performance will be made to avoid controversy.

“[What happened in Sta. Cruz] was an isolated case. We don’t need to discuss those things anymore because the event is formal,” Hernandez told reporters.

“Dapat automatic wala nang ganon. It’s a given,” he added.

Among the entertainers were Ramonne Rodriguez, a former finalist of The Voice Philippines, singer Ronald Celebre, and a group of interpretative dancers.

Hernandez, who is the NP’s provincial chair, and 12 mayors of Laguna sealed a local alliance with LP and vowed to support Roxas’s presidential bid in 2016 elections.
