THE Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Thursday announced that the rainy season is officially over.
Pagasa said a significant weakening of the southwest monsoon or the “habagat” was observed in the past few days.
“Moreover, strengthening of high pressure systems over the Asian continent has led to gradual changing of the season,” Pagasa said. “With these developments, the southwest monsoon or habagat is now officially over.”
With the Philippine climate in transition, the state weather bureau added that the gradual beginning of the northeast monsoon or “amihan” season expected in the coming days. With reports from Dona Pazzibugan, Philippine Daily Inquirer
