Cebu Queen City United debuts vs Pachanga FC in UFL today

THE Cebu Queen City United (CQCU) will make its debut in the United Football Leagued this 1 p.m. against Pachanga FC at the University of Makati football field.

Head coach Mario Ceniza refused to give any prediction on how his team will fare as everything is a first for them. It will be the first time that they will be playing in the UFL, first game outside Cebu and first time to go up against Pachanga FC.

Ceniza said that they would just play their game and to their strength.

They will adapt a 4-3-3 formation and rely on their three forwards, Junard Aguilar, Rommel “Chawco” Cuizon and Ariel “Aying” Cahilig.

Other members of the team are former national players Rocky Garciano and Jan Michael “Jano” Flores, Alex Buanghog, Garry Garciano, Frederick “Ktec” Alazas, Jack Reston, Ronald Mahilum, Benedict “Blui” Arriola, Carlito “Shak” Abadia, Christian “Sadam” Delan, Yance Menchavez, Nino Zapanta, Dave Gerali and Ranulfo Colina, Martin Bontia, Julius Acre, Josaphat Sacil, Mitsuo Tsunakiri, Marion Cubelo, Epifanio Ynot, Limhar “Ipang” Baunsit, and Rene Menchavez.

They arrived in Manila last night.

A total of 28 teams are competing in the UFL Cup, divided into seven groups for the elimination.

The Cebu team is in Group C alongside Pachanga FC, defending champion Global FC and Stallions FC.

Some Azkal mainstays are also playing in this tournament.

Making their debut in the Cup are Phil and James Younghusband and Angel Guirado. The Younghusbands are suiting up for Loyola Meralco while Guirado is with Global FC.

In addition to Aly Borromeo, Anton del Rosario and Yannick Tuason, Kaya also picked Nate Burkey and Jason Sabio for its lineup.  /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
