SWS: Binay’s public satisfaction rating suffers 9-point drop

The public satisfaction rating of Vice President Jejomar Binay has suffered a nine-point drop in September compared to his rating last June, the latest poll by Social Weather Stations (SWS) revealed.

The results of the September 2 to 5 survey, which was first published in BusinessWorld on Tuesday, showed that Binay had a “good” net satisfaction rating of +33 (58 percent satisfied against 25 percent dissatisfied) in the third quarter of 2015, a nine-point decrease from his +42 rating last June.

The vice president has a steady “good” public satisfaction rating since December 2014.

The SWS said that a +70 net satisfaction rating is “excellent”; +50 to +69 as “very good”; +30 to +49 as “good”; +10 to +29 as “moderate”; +9 to -9 as “neutral”; -10 to -29, “poor”; -30 to -49 as “bad”; -50 to -69 as “very bad”; and -70 and below as “execrable.”

Mixed results

Meanwhile, public satisfaction ratings of other key government officials drew mixed results.

Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno suffered a downgrade in her net satisfaction rating, falling seven points to a “neutral” +4 (33 percent satisfied, 29 percent dissatisfied) from her “moderate” +11 (37 percent satisfied, 25 percent dissatisfied) last June.
House Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr. maintained his “neutral” satisfaction rating but suffered a four-point dip from June’s +9 to September’s +5 (34 percent satisfied, 29 percent dissatisfied).

Meanwhile, Senate President Franklin Drilon’s net satisfaction rating recovered by 13 points: from a “moderate” +29 in June to a “good” +42 (61 percent satisfied, 18 percent dissatisfied) in September.

On the other hand, public institutions also gained an increase in their net satisfaction ratings: the Senate posted a “good” +44 rating, the House of Representatives now has a “moderate” +26 rating and the Cabinet with a “moderate” +16.

The Supreme Court’s net satisfaction rating suffered a downgrade and dropped five points: from June’s “good” +32 to September’s “moderate” +27.
