STA. MARIA, Bulacan—A man was killed on Saturday in a shootout with the police during a buy-bust operation inside a subdivision here.
Rodolfo Bermudo fired at policemen at 2:45 p.m. in El Pueblo Subdivision, Barangay Caypombo, and was killed when police returned fire, said Chief Supt. Rudy Lacadin, Central Luzon police director.
Police recovered a .38-cal. revolver and a sachet of suspected illegal drugs from the crime scene.
The shootout comes three days after four suspected drug syndicate members are killed in another buy-bust operation in Norzagaray town, according to a report.
The slain suspects of Wednesday’s incident have yet to be identified, while 13 other suspected gang members have been arrested. Carmela Reyes-Estrope, with a report by Ron Lopez/RC
