Rains raise water levels of major dams in Luzon

Water levels in major dams in Luzon have risen on Friday due to rains brought by Tropical storm “Kabayan.”

Angat Dam in Bulacan has increased by 1.14 meters from the day before, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

Angat Dam is responsible for most of Metro Manila’s water supply.

From 189.91 meters, the waters increased to 191.05 meters in Angat Dam, Pagasa said.

Ipo Dam also increased by 1.13 meters—from 99.92 meters to 101.05 meters.

La Mesa Dam in Quezon City, also increased by 0.31 meters — from 79.18 meters to 79.49 meters.

Pantabangan Dam in Nueva Ecija increased by 0.87 meters — from 191.91 meters to 192.78 meters.

“Kabayan” left Luzon landmass midday Friday and is expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility by Saturday midnight. CDG
