Tropical depression ‘Kabayan’: Signal No. 1 up in parts of Luzon
Signal No. 1 was raised in parts of Luzon after the low pressure area east of Visayas intensified into a tropical depression midday Thursday.
Catanduanes, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Aurora, Northern Quezon including Polillo Island were placed under public storm warning Signal No. 1 due to tropical depression “Kabayan,” the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.
The tropical depression packed maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center and moved west northwest at 19 kph.
It was last tracked 75 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes.
Kabayan will bring moderate to heavy rains within its 200 kilometer diameter.
Moderate to occasionally heavy rains and isolated thunderstorms will be experienced over Bicol Region, Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, Northern Palawan and Panay Island. Frances Mangosing/RAM
