House Speaker Feliciano “Sonny” Belmonte Jr. on Wednesday afternoon confirmed that Camarines Sur Representative Leni Robredo has accepted Liberal Party presidential bet Manuel “Mar” Roxas II offer to run as vice president in the 2016 elections.

Citing talks between Robredo and other LP leaders, Belmonte said the congresswoman has given her informal consent to run as the ruling party’s candidate for vice president. However, she can only formally say yes if her family agrees.

“We want all of her family to feel at ease with her decision,” Belmonte said during a press briefing after the LP Convention in Cubao.
