NAGA CITY—Three persons were confirmed killed and about 30 persons injured when a five-vehicle collision happened at the Andaya Highway at past 6 p.m. Monday in Lower Sta. Cruz in Ragay, Camarines Sur, according to the police investigator.
PO2 Julieto Mondigo Jr., case investigator, said three persons were killed on the spot that he identified as Association of Barangay (Village) Captain municipal president Joseph Cater; Alleandro Purca, 8; and Alea Liana Saraza, 4.
Mondigo said Cater was helping in the investigation of the first accident and taking photos while the two children were on the side of the road when the truck plowed on them.
Roderick Sandagon, barangay chief of Catabangan Proper who was present at the accident scene, said that at about 5 to 6 p.m., a single motorcycle collided with a motorcycle with sidecar in which the police responded.
He said that while the police were investigating and Cater was documenting the incident, a truck loaded with sand plowed through the accident area hitting an SUV, police car while another bus suddenly came in.
Mondigo said the truck plowed through the accident area when the investigation of the first accident had just finished and one police identified as PO3 Ferrer was hit when he was about to board the police car.
He said Ferrer suffered injuries in the head and legs and is now being treated in a hospital in Naga City.
The other people who suffered injuries were brought to Ragay District Hospital and others were brought to Naga City, Mondigo said. Juan Escandor Jr./RAM
