‘Jenny’ lashes Taiwan, heads for China

Typhoon “Jenny” (International name: Dujuan) has further weakened as it moved away from the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), the state weather bureau said.

The typhoon, seen to exit PAR Tuesday morning, crossed northern Taiwan and was moving towards southeastern China, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its final weather bulletin for Jenny.

The tropical cyclone packed maximum sustained winds of 130 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 160 kph.

Jenny was tracked 425 kilometers north northwest and moved 19 kph west northwest.

Storm signals were lifted on Monday evening but the southwest monsoon would continue to bring light to moderate rain over the regions of Ilocos, the Cordilleras, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, and the provinces of Mindoro and Palawan.

Fishermen were warned to avoid the seaboards of Northern Luzon.
