Typhoon Jenny (international name: Dujuan) has kept its strength as it churned towards Northern Taiwan, the state weather bureau said Monday afternoon.
Although the typhoon moved a bit slower at 17 kilometers per hour west northwest, Jenny will exit the Philippine area of responsibility on Tuesday morning, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.
The typhoon packed maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 220 kph.
Signal No. 1 remained hoisted over Batanes Group of Islands.
Fishermen were still warned by Pagasa to avoid the seaboards of Northern Luzon and the eastern seaboard of Central and Southern Luzon.
Moderate to occasionally heavy rains which may trigger flashfloods and landslides are expected over Bataan, Zambales and Pangasinan due to Jenny and the southwest monsoon.
The rest of Luzon will have light to moderate rains.
