Strong aftershock hits Japan

MANILA, Philippines—A strong aftershock with a magnitude of 6.4 hit Japan at 3:06 p.m. (2:06 p.m. in Manila), the US Geological Survey said.

The undersea quake struck 128 kilometers southeast of Morioka, Honshu, Japan at a depth of 25.1 kilometers.

The first undersea tremor which struck 21 minutes earlier measured at 8.8-magnitude on the Richter Scale.
