2 missing due to enhanced monsoon from ‘Jenny’

Two persons went missing in Zamboanga del Sur due to the southwest monsoon enhanced by Typhoon Jenny (international name: Dujuan), the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Monday.

The two missing individuals were fishing near the boundary of a river in Brgy. Bulanit in Labangan town when strong a current caused by flashflood destroyed their boat and eventually fell to the water last Sept. 25.

The two were identified as Paharodin Tinggalong, 20, and Lacmodin Tinggalong, 16, the report said.

The typhoon also affected 1,866 persons in Negro Occidental— in the areas of Himamaylan and Kabankalan City, and Isabela.

Waters have subsided in Himamaylan City as of posting time, but in Brgy. Masablay, Isabela, 13 houses were damaged due to the heavy rains.

Six vessels and three motorbancas were also stranded in the posts of Coast Guard Station Tagbilaran and Cebu, NDRRMC said.
